Minor knock managed, not injured
Diao (undisclosed) was rested during Wednesday's 0-0 friendly against Saudi Arabia as a precaution after feeling a slight knock during training this week, but coach Pape Thiaw expressed no major concern over the attacker's availability for Senegal's World Cup opener on June 16, according to Khadim Diakhate of DSports. "The most important thing is that everyone is ready for June 16."
Analysis: Diao was managed carefully by the medical staff to avoid any unnecessary risk, with the issue considered minor rather than a genuine fitness concern. Manager Thiaw also highlighted the returns of Idrissa Gueye and Kalidou Koulibaly as significant positives from the preparation camp, with both players now back on the pitch and operational ahead of the tournament.
Slippery in Verona contest
Diao drew seven fouls and had one shot (zero on goal), four tackles (one won) and two crosses (zero accurate) in Sunday's 1-0 win over Verona.
Analysis: Diao was often stopped early by the opponents with harsh tackles and didn't get a lot going in the final third. He has recorded at least one shot, amassing 11 (three on target), and two crosses, piling up 17 (one accurate), in four games in a row, scoring once. Additionally, this marked his fourth straight tilt with one or more tackles, for a total of 11 (five won).
